Small town country duo Deep Southwest try to secure a spot to perform at the coveted Hawaiian Pizza Festival in rural Chatham-Kent. Along the way they meet a cast of characters that help and hinder their progress to pizza fest glory.
This musical comedy will get you up on your feet dancing and wanting to trade in your shoes for a pair of cowboy boots. March 8th marks the Premier of Deep Southwest produced by local production company Whalen Entertainment and Bell Fibe TV1.
This five part series will be available to stream on Fibe TV1 late March. Come see all your favorite people and locations in the series that was filmed exclusively in Chatham-Kent and features a local cast.

Megan Whalen | Writer, Director
Megan is a classical and musical theatre artist who has performed across Canada and the US, most notably as Liesl in the award winning Andrew Lloyd Weber revival of The Sound of Music (Mirvish). As a writer and director she has penned plays such as A Spaghetti Dinner, Trouble at the North Pole and sketch comedy film and theatre for her troupe The Dented Cannes.
She teaches acting and voice and runs workshops around Southwestern Ontario, and has been a guest educator with The NTS drama festival. in 2022 She received the Talk Is Free Theatre educational grant for digital theatre and was a 2023 finalist for the Cayle Chernin award for Theatre Development.

Pat Whalen | Writer, Marketing
Patrick has written with Second City and Just for Laughs on Spank! The Fifty Shades Parody which toured across Canada, US (including Las Vegas, L.A. & NYC) and Europe.
Patrick has performed with Toronto Operetta Theatre and starred in the movie 11 Blocks (Netflix). As a marketing and production coordinator he has worked on campaigns for Disney Cruise, Discovery and Sons of Kent Brewing.
He has helped pen Trouble at the North Pole and writes for The Dented Cannes sketch comedy troupe.

They both can be seen performing with their classic country band Deep Southwest touring Canada and Italy, as well as creating and directing incredible immersive and experiential productions.
When they’re not performing, writing, and filming new works, Megan can be found practicing Jiu Jitsu and crafting. Pat can be found teaching and competing in Jiu Jutsu (he holds a purple belt), and they both love hanging out with their dog Riker and bunny Hazel.
